Midwest Young Artists Conservatory (MYAC) Gala 2021

May 4, 2021 - MYAC is the largest youth music ensemble program in the Midwest serving over 900 students from throughout Chicagoland and the tristate area with the highest quality orchestral, jazz, choral and chamber music ensembles

MYAC's outstanding faculty supports students of all ages and abilities in a challenging, nurturing and fun community focused on both their musical and their personal growth.

Its truly unique environment where students can achieve excellence, build confidence and lifelong friendships.

Students develop essential life skills and values like hard work, perseverance, team work, leadership and giving back to their communities.

MYAC is committed to diversity and inclusion and because of their donors no student is turned away based on ability to pay.

Last year MYAC provided over $100,000 in financial aid and scholarships.

In addition, their Young Music Scholar’s program provides students from underserved communities with tuition free ensemble participation, private lessons and peer mentoring.

The Gala is the most crucial night of the year to raise funds to continue this mission.

This year’s Gala celebrates the Jazz Age, a time when jazz music & dancing evolved rapidly and became wildly popular across the nation.

This year, guests participated virtually or in-person.

Highlights this year include a live-streamed jazz after-party with the Concert Jazz Band, a world premiere of the all-student virtual performance of "What the World Needs Now is Love," and a special message and musical gift from preeminent cellist Yo-Yo Ma!

The live auction was emceed by Ron Bernardi of Sunset Foods standing behind the new Capri Lectern donated by AmpliVox Sound Systems for the event.

Ron is the Family Community Service Representative for his uncle’s five-store grocery business, Sunset Foods, founded in Highland Park in 1937.

When he’s not representing Sunset in the community, you can find him raising tens of thousands of dollars for local organizations as an auctioneer—a job he fell into and loves.

For over 30 years one of Ron’s passions has been volunteering to serve as a Charity Auctioneer for numerous non-profit organizations in the communities Sunset serves.

Ron was honored to serve as the auctioneer to help raise much needed funds for MYAC.

The AmpliVox Capri Lectern is an update of one of our most popular styles - now with a sleek curved design and edge banding, its the perfect combination of style and practicality.
