LECTROSONICS TO AUTO-MIX AES TECHNICAL PROGRAM PANEL DISCUSSIONS

New York, NY – October 2009… Lectrosonics, recognized the world over as a leading manufacturer of wireless microphone systems and audio processing products, is pleased to announce the company’s DM Series audio processors have been selected to provide auto-mixing technology for the technical program panel discussions during the upcoming 127th AES Convention—held October 9-12 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. A key attraction of the AES show, the various panel discussions and presentations of white papers are widely viewed as an opportunity for industry leaders and show attendees to address various issues that concern the professional audio community.

Five Lectrosonics DM812 Digital Automatic Matrix Mixers—one for each of the five different rooms where the panel discussions are to take place—will be inserted in-line between the microphones and mixing console. In addition to their ability to auto-mix up to 8 channels, the DM812 processors offer an excellent means of increasing gain before feedback. Further, as the systems are designed for unattended operation, their inclusion during the panel discussions requires only minimal oversight, thus freeing the house AV technicians to focus on more pressing issues.

Henry Cohen, AES Live Sound co-chair, commented on the value and convenience the Lectrosonics DM Series processors bring to the forthcoming panel discussions. “With AES being the premiere convention for the professional audio community,” said Cohen, “these panel discussions provide tremendous information for attendees, so being able to clearly hear the panelists is crucial. Equally significant, as an organization of audio professionals, AES should be at the forefront of delivering superior audio quality. The Lectrosonics DM Series processors are well known for their performance attributes, so were clearly the product of choice for these important sessions.”

Howard Kaufman, Lectrosonics’ greater New York area technical representative, who is coordinating the delivery of the equipment, is equally enthusiastic. “We’re delighted to see our products being used in this capacity,” Kaufman notes. “The DM processors have earned a stellar reputation for this very sort of application, so it’s very gratifying to be a vital part of the AES panel discussions.”

About the Lectrosonics DM Series Processors
The DM Series is a family of powerful digital audio processing, mixing, and routing systems. Their primary applications are sound reinforcement and conferencing in boardrooms, courtrooms, worship centers, distance learning systems, hotels, and other applications with multiple microphones and loudspeakers. Easily configurable using a computer system with the WIndows® 2000 or Windows® XP operating systems, the DM design represents a milestone in DSP technology in its basic architecture and in its processing speed, efficiency, and flexibility.

The DM812’s basic architecture consists of 8 mic/line inputs and 12 outputs with a full DSP-based crosspoint matrix that enables every input to be routed to any or all outputs. Following the A-D conversion at each input, the signal passes through multiple DSP filters, ADFE (automatic digital feedback eliminator), a compressor, and a digital delay. In the matrix, gain is adjustable from -69 to +20 dB in 1 dB steps at each crosspoint. Each of the 12 outputs provides a digital delay, multiple DSP filters, and a compressor/limiter.
